To myself – my past self, my present self, and my future self:
Try to remember to see yourself the way that Sara did,
through her beautiful, goofy, love-filled gaze.
To her, you were perfect;
it always made you uncomfortable when she said that.
“Perfect for YOU” – You would say as a compromise.
When you were with Sara, the best of you came out.
You were kind and generous.
You could communicate with compassion,
problem-solve gently,
hold space when there was nothing to be said or done.
You became a father.
You were her handyman, her podcast/tv-show discussion buddy.
You became friends with many of her friends,
and introduced her to old friends of yours who would become hers.
You shared the joys you found in the world with her.
You may not be perfect, but perfection is never the goal.
Remember that you are someone worthy.
Worthy of Love,
Worthy of Touch,
Worthy of Fun,
Worthy of Joy,
Worthy of Sunshine,
Worthy of Validation,
Worthy of Care,
Just Worthy.
